Commissioned video for the regional meeting of the Alumni DAAD (Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela): 250 years of Alexander von Humboldt: Cosmos or chaos? Scientific descriptions of the world today.
Meeting that took place from May 10 to 12.

In the piece 14,484,543 pasos the character of contemporary "trips" is revealed, visualizing in a virtual model the places that Humboldt travelled in his travels through the Americas.

Technology transports us through an aseptic and controlled world, where the senses are reduced to the movement of crawling fingers and the body is limited to a digital window.
The approximately 14,484 kilometres of American territory explored mainly on foot by Humboldt and his companions, vertiginous modified in the last 250 years, are travelled from the immobility and comfort of a computer.

The audio of the video recreates in part the musical Zeitgeist of the Humboldt era. The interpretation freely transforms the melodies and rhythms of the regions where the researchers passed.

Synopsis: Antonio Farfan is a 46 year old man working in a Notary's office who has always believed that his personal and professional failure is the inevitable result of his looks: he is bald, short and fat. Though his mind is never silent, his life goes almost uneventfully until the new notary arrives: A dub, Balder and shorter man that, unlike Antonio, is successful and loved by others. Dazed and Confused, Antonio is now thrown out to the real world where he faces his own fears and ends up living pretty unexpected situations.

I found myself as a fast reader of subtitles and from this detail I discovered that most Spanish speakers are also. For this reason I decided to do a video adaptation of the text: The Dark Way - Stories from the spirit world.
Text to which I had access through a translation (English to Spanish).

Through the use of "the asthetics of the subtitle" I transformed text in image, giving it meaning through cuts in the frame to force the reader-spectator to complete the story in their mind.

°°°°°°°°
